Location
Central Tamriel
The Imperial province of Cyrodiil dominates central Tamriel. With the Empire's collapse, armies of the Dominion, Covenant, and Pact have all invaded Cyrodiil, vying for the Imperial throne and control of the greatest prize in the land.
Cyrodiil

Cyrodiil is the central province of Tamriel and home of the Imperials, who stand alone in the Alliance War.

Cyrodiil's geography is mostly low-lands and forests, with mountains around its borders. The central Heartlands is the area around the Imperial City; the island is almost wholly used for the city while the land to the east is used for farming. The Nibenay Valley to the south is too small to have its own unique geological features; it is a mix of the Great Forest to the north and west of the Heartlands, and the Nibenay Basin's plains to the east of the Heartlands. The Jerall Mountains form the border with Skyrim to the north.

Politically, the region is in flux, with armies of the three Alliances continually fighting over strategic positions. Nominally however, northwestern Cyrodiil is considered Daggerfall Territory, northeastern Cyrodiil is considered Ebonheart Territory, and southwestern Cyrodiil is considered Aldmeri Territory. Remnants of the Imperial Legion still control parts of the Imperial City, and legionaries can be found in small military camps all across the region.

At this time of war between the alliances, Molag Bal is also attempting to pull Nirn into Coldharbour with the use of huge Dark Anchors attached to Tamriel, a number of which are found in Cyrodiil. The largest of these is located over the Imperial City.

Level

Unlike most other zones, Cyrodiil has no set level range. It can be accessed at Normal10 and battle-leveling combined with the many campaign bonuses make it possible for lower level players to participate in PvP. PvE enemies are set at Veteran14, although previously they were scaled to Veteran12, Veteran5, and originally Normal50. The Imperial City is scaled to Veteran16.

Notes

  • Each alliance controls a number of safe areas within Cyrodiil. These places are indicated on the wiki using different iconography depending on the function of the area. See Safe Zones for details.
  • You must be Level 10 before you can access Cyrodiil.
  • Cyrodiil is one of the largest parts of Elder Scrolls Online, and to make sure battles can be won, there is limited fast-traveling. It is a good idea to bring a horse as it can take some time to travel on foot between areas. You cannot fast-travel to a keep under attack; you must make your way on foot or horseback.
  • Some villages are alliance-neutral — no NPCs will pose a threat. However, alliance-affiliated NPC guards will patrol towns controlled by alliances, and they will react to enemy alliance players. Other villages have been overrun by enemy factions who will attack anyone regardless of their affiliation.
