(vampire bloodline) have need of you. Come immediately.
Yours in Death,
(vampire NPC's name)
Quest Object
Head to the town mentioned in the letter and get the location of your contact by asking around. Meet with him/her and he/she will brief you on the situation. A Daedra has proposed a challenge to the vampire bloodline and they want you to handle this matter before the quest's time limit has expired. You will also get the note with the challenge, it says:
Blood Sponge,
My coven tells me that your monsters, your weird little pack of blood snorting bugaboos, have a monopoly on the terror business in (current region), and that my own children are afraid to expand their dominion because of the raw power of (vampire bloodline). The cowards have been appropriately punished and now my coven moves forward. If the complacent vultures who call themselves (vampire bloodline) truly have an ounce of the potency my coven once believed, answer my challenge. Otherwise, be prepared for there to be a little less room in (current region) for (vampire bloodline) and your petty criminalities. I am (Daedric character's name) of The Coven of (Daedra Prince). Consider the gauntlet dropped. I await your response in (dungeon).
Travel to the dungeon mentioned in the challenge and find the Daedric character within, it will look like the Daedric Prince it is serving. It will taunt the regional vampires and demands from you to acknowledge the superiority of the daedra and their claim to the current region. If you don't do this a Daedroth will show up to attack you. If you can defeat it, the Daedric character will be impressed and acknowledges the vampires' claim to the current region. This will earn you reputation with Oblivion and the Daedra Prince it is serving. Return back to the vampire NPC to collect your reward.
Quest End
When you speak to the vampire NPC after you have defeated the Daedroth, he/she will say:
You have honored (vampire bloodline) this night, (player's first name). (Daedra Prince) has respect for us and for you that no other vampire tribe has ever earned. Your bloodfather told me to give you this (gem) as a symbol of the permanence of your place in (vampire bloodline).
When you return after bowing to the Daedra, the vampire NPC will say:
You have failed (vampire bloodline), (player's first name). The Coven of (Daedra Prince) challenged us, and you were an embarassment. It is a night of shame.
