A cluster of glowing mushrooms

Glowing Mushrooms are a variety of fungus found growing on the walls of most caves, providing a source of light. Note there are two forms of the plant: a cluster of 7 which when harvested leave the center two remaining on the wall, and a single mushroom which leaves only a root stump. Single mushrooms can be hard to pick as the target is only a very thin tendril. As many clusters are a mix of both cluster forms and several single mushrooms, a small formation may actually contain several harvests.

Ingredients

40 guaranteed, already harvested samples can be found in 14 different locations. Locations with multiple samples are:

• 10 in Lost Echo Cave (Haafingar)
• 10 in Tolvald's Gap (The Rift)
• 4 in Liar's Retreat (The Reach)
• 3 in Frostflow Abyss (Winterhold)
• 3 in Irkngthand Grand Cavern (The Pale)
• 2 in the Dwemer Museum (Markarth)

Glowing mushrooms are categorized as uncommon ingredients, meaning they may be randomly found in uncommon- and rare-type apothecary's satchels. They do not appear in the inventories of apothecary merchants (even if the Merchant perk has been unlocked); however a single sample can be purchased from either Elgrim's Elixirs or the Hag's Cure. Unlike several other ingredients that are not stocked by apothecary shops, apothecary merchants will buy glowing mushrooms.
