If I can prove I know my way around a forge, Millenith will certify me as a blacksmith.

Quick Walkthrough

  • Talk to Millenith.
  • Mine some iron ore.
  • Refine the ore into ingots.
  • Create an iron dagger.
  • Deconstruct the dagger.
  • Talk to Millenith and accept your certificate.

Detailed Walkthrough

When you reach level six a new notice will appear on the noticeboards of all major cities. The notice states that master crafters are willing to share their knowledge about crafting for free, which will allow you to complete writs. One of the master crafters is Millenith, who is willing to share her knowledge on Blacksmithing. Find her outside the Fighters Guild and commit to earning certification in Blacksmithing.

Millenith wants proof of your ability, so she tasks you to find some iron ore, and then meet her by the smithy. An area just outside the city will be marked on your map, and there are three iron ore veins in that area. Once you have mined them you will have at least twelve ore, two more than needed. Take them to the smithy and talk to Millenith. She asks you to refine them and then meet her back at the smithy. Refine the ore and then speak to her again.

Next she asks you to make an iron dagger, and lets you know that smiths sell style materials if you have none available. Once you have created a dagger of any level present it to her. Finally she asks you to destroy your new dagger

Notes

  • It is possible to be certified immediately if you have already reached level 10 in Blacksmithing. You will miss out on at least two iron ore and the inspiration from crafting and deconstructing.
  • Any iron ore or ingots held in the bank will count towards the quest total. The collection stage can be skipped by going straight to the smithy, while the refining stage is skipped completely (i.e. not even requested).

Bugs

  • After tasking you with refining the ore into ingots, Millenith will run all the way back to the guildhall and then back to the smithy once the refinement is done. This can take a few minutes depending on how far the guildhall is, despite the process of refinement being very quick (certainly nowhere near the time it takes her to run between the locations), and even if you manage to refine the ore before she leaves the smithy.
