Talin, born in 3E 370, was a mysterious hero who was credited with killing the faux emperor Jagar Tharn and saving the true emperor, Uriel Septim VII, along with the general of the Imperial Legion, Talin Warhaft, from Oblivion in 3E 399, thus ending the Imperial Simulacrum. The mysterious hero was then given the title of "Eternal Champion" by the emperor himself. He was also credited with obtaining several Aedric, Daedric, and mortal-made artifacts.

History

Talin, who was named after his father, was born to two Imperials, a retired warrior who fought in the Battle for Borim Valley, and a mother who was a member of the Elder Council. His family lived in the Talos Plaza District in the Imperial City due to his mother's constant need to be close the Council Chambers. He had a great-aunt who lived in Skingrad's Rosethorn Hall, and a great-uncle who lived in Chorrol's Aborwatch.

Talin was brought up in an environment that treasured education and loyalty above all other things, which is how he became a member of the Council at such a young age, albeit a minor part of the Council.

During his childhood, Talin worked at the local Chestnut Handy Stables and trained in combat at the Imperial City's arena, his teacher being Armsmaster Festil, an elderly warrior who also taught Talin's father.

The Imperial Simulacrum

During his time as a member of the Elder Council, Talin made several friends, including one Ria Silmane, Jagar Tharn's apprentice. They first met when he summoned her to court so that he could learn the ways of sorcery. They grew very close, almost to the point of being lovers. The last time they had met before her demise was during the Mid Year's festival.

After Silmane's death, Jagar Tharn's minions, disguised as the Imperial Guard, broke into Talin's home, murdered his parents, and thew him into the Imperial Prison.

Talin later awoke to Silmane's ghost speaking to him from between Mundus and Aetherius. She told him that Tharn had imprisoned Emperor Uriel Septim VII and the general of the Imperial Legion, General Talin Warhaft, in one of the many realms of Oblivion. She also told him that he had to escape his cell and find the eight pieces of the Staff of Chaos in order destroy Tharn and rescue the emperor and the general. She then left Talin, as the more she communicated with him the more her powers keeping from fully moving on weakened.

Talin could not open the cell door no matter how hard he banged on it or stabbed at the keyhole with his dagger. Even if he did he would have to face many of Tharn's Daedric Imperial Guards. After a while he gave up and slumped against one of his cell's walls. The wall behind him opened like a giant stone gate, and he fell and tumbled down a muddy, slopped corridor, which opened into some Ayleid ruins. It was this very path Emperor Uriel Septim VII, his Blades, and the Champion of Cyrodiil would use to escape the Imperial City 44 years from now.

Talin, impressed with Tharn's ignorance of the very palace he was supposed to keep magically sealed from invaders, ventured forth into the ruins. However, he very quickly came to find the only hallway out of the dungeon was blocked off by a locked door. Talin looked round the room until he found a large hole in the wall. He pushed against the bricks until they separated far enough for him to crawl through. Talin was now in some sort of mine or cavern. He continued onward, finding the skeletons of several miners and goblins. He searched through them and found a good assortment of plate armor and weaponry.

Eventually, Talin came to a corridor which lead into a relatively large room with a pit in the middle. It appeared as if he found the remaining goblins of the lot that were dead earlier in the mines.
