This is a little backstory about the Rulers of the Fourth Era from beginning to end as according to my fanfictions. At the end, a list (it will not be a table as is found on the Septim Dynasty's page), rather it is just a typed up listing, can be found listing the rulers of the Luco, Veron, Atraenus (Areldir and Carandial), and Raleth Dynasties in Cyrodiil. The backstories -- from birth to reign to death -- are given for each Emperor from 4E 01-1071. This is a work in progress, and will be for a while. I plan on updating it daily or every other day, though with all of the projects I have going, I cannot say for certain that I will remember. Anyway, enough of this, and let us read on into a magical land of... magical things... (Sigh... I had no idea where I was going with that... epic fail...)

Of The Mede Usurpers

Titus Mede-- The man known as Titus Mede (born Titus Karin) was born to Caulia Voranius, a mistress of the King of Leyawiin, Arellius Karin (reign: 4E 03-23, born in 3E 403, and died in Titus's court in 4E 28) in 3E 427 -- though at the time of Titus's birth he was still a warlord in Blackwood. He took his name "Mede" in 4E 21 upon his ascention to the throne of Cyrodiil. Though his surname was Mede, he claimed to be of the Septim Dynasty, and became the first usurper in a long line of many to come. Next to nothing is known of Titus's childhood or early adolescence, however he first enters history at the age of 15, when he did battle with Count Regulus Terentius for the title of Count Bravil. He did this at the request of his father, who was at the time King of Leyawiin and sought to expand his kingdom but to not overextend himself in any way -- and so he sent Titus, along with the boy's powerful hand-picked retinue. Titus won the battle and took over Bravil in the name of his father, making King Arellius's kingdom the second most powerful in Cyrodiil, only exceeded by Heartland Alliance which included the cities of Anvil, Skingrad, and Tirian (the borders of Cyrodiil and Hammerfell had shifted in the past years, putting Tirian, once a major settlement in Hammerfell, at the easternmost border of Cyrodiil).

Titus's position did not last forever, however, and was ended in 4E 16 after seven years of ruling when he left his father's kingdom to go west, and find refuge the once powerful, now sundered, County Chorrol. He found Weatherleah, and subsequently the Jemane brothers after nearly three months of wandering those lands. They had managed to expand the settlement to up to eight houses with twelve inhabitants. For two years Titus stayed here until he decided to again leave to journey in the wilds of Cyrodiil. Eventually he encountered the Enclave, the Nomadic Marauders who had come to rule the wildlands of Western Cyrodiil. After killing five of them in one-on-one duels, he convinced the outlaws of his alignment with their cause, and was hailed as Menegrothe -- no one but the Marauders actually knew what this meant, as it was in a tongue native to their band. After a year in the company of the outlaws, their leader Orgnak gro-Boglam was killed by Titus -- Titus encountered him in the woods, and not knowing his identity and believing him a spy or soldier from one of the cities, killed him swiftly. Instead of being angry, the Marauders marvelled at the skills Titus possessed, and named him their warlord. Titus had big plans now, and he sought to create his own kingdom using this loyal band. Only 70 in number, he planned small -- he planned to take what had once been his back; he planned to take the city of Bravil.

After only a 2 day siege, Bravil fell to the Enclave, and found itself under a new master -- King Zoltes Menegrothe, the name Titus took upon himself during this time. But he had no plans of stopping here. He had a completely new set of armor forged and new weapons as well. The helmet of this armor was the most famous and notable feature -- it gave the wearer the ability to control the minds of others through an enchantment of Mysticism. Another notable feature was that it covered the wearer's entire face with only a few hidded holes used for breathing and a place for the eyes; this helm became known as the Helm of Thralls. Instead of invading his father's kingdom, however, he decided to claim what was once County Chorrol (and had for 10 years been the domain of the Enclave at this point) as part of his kingdom. This took two entire years, and it was only at this point that King Zoltes looked to Arellius Karin's kingdom as a target. On the 13th of Second Seed he laid siege. The battle was drawn out until at last, on the 22nd of Evening Star, Zoltes Menegrothe took Leyawiin as his own domain. He had Arellius brought before him and mocked him, until at last he spoke, demanding to know who he was. Titus looked at him for a moment before making the descision to remove his helm and reveal himself to his father. "Five whole years it has been since I last laid eyes upon this face. I will not ask what you went through to become this powerful, for I myself know the struggles of power."

"And yet even after 18 years your kingdom still had nowhere near the amount of power which mine has gained through two years, father!" Titus mocked the old king.

"You know nothing of power, my son. Only of conquest, of battle," Arellius told him.

"And I for one see no difference, my father!" he said and struck him to the ground.

"And that will always be your biggest flaw,"

Titus, not letting his anger take hold of him once more, ordered the healers to tend to him and for him to be brought to Titus' travelling caravan with which they would travel back to Bravil.

Upon their return to Bravil, Titus declared his father ruler of the western portion of his kingdom -- Arellius celebrated his sixty-first birthday at his coronation -- where he would serve for the next year. In that year, King Zoltes began his preparations to take the Imperial City. Chancellor Ocato would doubtlessly relinquish control of the western provinces, which were his vassals, and his eastern conquests as well (Cheydinhal and Blackwood) which would give him control over all Cyrodiil and eastern Hammerfell. In 4E 23, this dream was realized and Titus Karin took the throne as the 23rd ruler of the Septim Dynasty -- he took the name Mede as a symbol of Imperial Office. Emperor Titus Mede would rule until 4E 47 when he would fall to a heart attack in his sleep. His only child and son, Attrebus Mede, would subsequently take the throne. Arellius Karin died in service to his son in 4E 28 when died under suspicious circumstances during a mid-evening meal.

Attrebus Mede-- Attrebus was the son of Titus Mede, Emperor of Tamriel. His life's tory can be found here. Following the events of the Infernal City, Attrebus becomes Emperor. The only true threat to his Empire, however was the Thalmor. With the aid of Colin, head of the Penitus Oculatus, he discovered their northernmost base of operations near Pell's Gate, a settlement close to Ione. On the Second of First Seed, 4E 48, Emperor Attrebus Mede assaulted Pell's Gate. The brutal massacre here was one that the town would never recover from. He ruled for 5 more years until he began to actively launch campaigns again. In 4E 61, he reunited all of Tamriel, defeating the Thalmor in 4E 54, the Rebels in Elsweyr in 4E 57, and the An-Xileel in 4E 59, effectively bringing all lands under the Empire save Morrowind which was annexed in 4E 61 from Kelar Mivris, a Dunmer Sorcerer, and in all technicalities the King of Morrowind (succeeded King Helseth in 4E 11 after the Slave Rebellion. When he died after a glorious and prosperous 23-year-reign, he had brought all of Tamriel and the islands between Akavir and Tamriel (4E 83). When he died, plans had been in place to assault Akavir. However his son, Vlanarus Mede, was not as ambitious as him and wanted to first keep balance in his kingdom. This did not bode well with the Elder Council, and in 4E 85 he dismissed them. The following month, his reign came to a bloody end when the Emrikal-nerus, a splinter cell of the Thalmor, infiltrated the Imperial City, stormed the palace, killed Vlanarus and his two sons, and took his daughter captive. With no ruler, the Empire that the past two emperors had worked so long and hard to build fell apart.

Of the Return of the Septims and the Veron Dynasty

Cephorus Septim III-- Cephorus III was born to Calaxes Septim II (son of Calaxes Septim I, martyr son of Uriel VII) in 4E 68. His mother was Hestia Valga, granddaughter of Countess Ariana Valga. Cephorus took the throne in 4E 89 following a brief power struggle as a result of Attrebus Mede's death (4E 84). Cephorus's reign was filled with strife and revolt in the beginning. After Vlanarus Mede was killed in 4E 85, Cephorus stormed the Imperial City. It was weakened and never stood a chance against his well organized Colovian army.
