Tribunal:Easter Eggs
This page is for Easter Eggs only. Easter Eggs include inside jokes, pop culture references, and any similar reference to something outside the Elder Scrolls games. For other points of interest, like unfinished quests, or references to other games in the Elder Scrolls series, please see the appropriate pages. |
Easter Eggs are secrets that the developers put in games to give people a laugh when they find them (provided that they understand the joke or reference). Tribunal has a large number of such jokes. Easter Eggs differ from in-game references in that they have been clearly hidden from the player and are unusual with regards to their surroundings; references are often integrated into the rest of game and no attempt is made to keep them secret.
If you think you have found an Easter Egg, please post your idea on this article's talk page before adding it to this article.
Easter Eggs
Eye of Argonia
Apparently, you can pick the lock or use a magic spell to open the door marked "Keep Out!" in the Craftsmen's Hall in Godsreach. This is easiest to do once you 'convince' the armorer's apprentice to leave. At any rate, there is a small room inside with shelving on the left. There is an unlocked trapdoor in the floor through which you will find the secret workshop of the leaflet/flier distributors. You can have a limited conversation with the head honcho, who asks you what you are doing here. You can reply in three or four ways; one way is, "I'm looking for the Eye of Argonia!" in which case he tells you to go to Hell. The way the "chief" treats you will vary depending on your reputation and/or disposition. He may say that he never before heard such an interesting excuse and he will let you leave without killing you but will ask you to keep your mouth shut. The Eye of Argonia was supposed to be the sequel to The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard,[1] but due to the latter's lack of success, the Eye of Argonia was canceled. The Eye of Argonia is also mentioned in the book The Ruins of Kemel-Ze as one of the author's possible next adventures.
This is also part of the Main Quest to find who is printing and distributing the leaflets/fliers.
Foreshadowing of Oblivion
When talking to Eno Romari during the Show of Power quest, he talks about the impending apocalypse, the releasing of daedra upon Tamriel, and the coming of Mehrunes Dagon. Sound familiar?
Funny Ashes
In the Dwemer ruins of Bamz-Amschend, Hall of Wails, you can see a pair of ashes below a bed frame and along with them, a Dwemer tube and Oil (listed as "lubricant" in the CS) on the side (Leave it to yourself to guess what this may represent). Additionally, there is another set of ashes in a cracked doorway leading to the room. All in all, this appears to be an attempt by Bethesda at a subtle adult joke in Tribunal.
The Naked Nord Barbarian
Remember the three naked Nord barbarians back in Vvardenfell? There's another one in the western end of Mournhold's Plaza Brindisi Dorom. His name is Forstaag the Sweltering. If you talk to him, he'll say:
- What're you looking at? No, I'm not paralyzed. And I've never even met a witch, much less been asked to escort one anywhere. Why am I naked? Because it's too damned hot here! You people think that every time you see a naked Nord barbarian, he's been tricked by some witch. So narrow minded. Now leave me alone.
and:
- I told you I don't need any help. I'm just trying to cool off a bit. I've never even seen a witch! You people and your stereotypes....
This is a reference to the three naked Nord barbarians of Vvardenfell and their run of bad luck with the witches they escorted.
Thrud the Barbarian
Thrud is named after a comic strip character Thrud the barbarian in White Dwarf, which is a miniatures gaming magazine.
