Bala, an Ashlander, is searching for her deceased lover, Eanen Varam. In life, he was part of House Dunmer, so their status kept them apart. They promised each other to unite in death, but now, she can't find his tomb.

Detailed Walkthrough

Talk to Bala in Othrenis and hear her sad tale. She had a lover, Eanen Varam, and although she was a servant and he was a noble, they fell madly in love and he had promised to leave his wife for her. Unfortunately, he had died before that happened. Bala asks for your help so that she can summon his ghost and allow her to speak to him one last time.

First you will need to gather five Graven Caps, a type of mushroom that grows around the area. There are more than you will need so just gather the first five you see and then return to Bala. After this she will tell you to search the tombs to find the Varam family tomb. She'll search the eastern tombs and instructs you to search the western ones.

When you find the Varam family tomb, activate it and the ghost of Eanen Varam will appear along with his wife. Explain to him that Bala is searching for him, and he'll have a laugh at her expense. Apparently he made Bala think he was madly in love with her, only so that he could relish crushing her dreams by revealing that it was all an act.

Return to Bala who will ask what happened when you found the tomb. You can tell her one of three things: the tomb was empty, Eanen loves her, or Eanen lied to her. If you tell her that the tomb was empty, she will devote the rest of her days to looking for his real resting place. If you say that Eanen loves her, she'll happily thank you for letting her know what she knew all along. If you tell her that Eanen lied to her, she won't believe you as she believes their love was real. No matter which option you choose, she will thank you for your troubles and give you your reward.

Notes

If you choose to tell Bala that Eanen didn't love her, you may meet her ghost later on, saying the thought of losing him again was unbearable. You can find her corpse on the fishing dock south of Ebonheart, by the refugee and Nord camps.
If you choose to tell Bala that the tomb is empty, you may meet her ghost later on in Ebonheart, saying that she can't find him and that it is hard to go on without him.
