2014

Early Access

Before ESO's official launch on 4 April, 2014, the game's megaservers were opened early as part of the pre-order bonuses. This began on March 30 for players with 5-day early access, and April 1 for those with 3-day early access. This period was free play and did not detract from players' remaining subscription time, and was followed by a surprise 2-day grace period of additional free play after release.

2015

Welcome Back Weekend

The Welcome Back Weekend lasted from April 16 to April 20, 2015. During this time, players who participated in the beta were able to log in and play without purchasing a copy of the game. Players could also enter a giveaway by logging in during the event, and an orienteering challenge was hosted on the official forums with a chance to win a Bristlegut Piglet pet. The Senche-Leopard Mount was first made available throughout this event, and was the first limited time Crown Store release.

Free Play Weekend

The Free Play Weekend took place from December 7 to December 14, 2015. During this time, players could log in and play the PC/Mac and Xbox One versions of ESO without purchasing a copy of the game. Free play was not made available on PS4. Various discounts were also offered during the event.

2016

Heart's Day

Heart's Day was celebrated on February 16, 2016 at 7pm UTC on the PTS. A mass wedding ceremony was held in front of the Temple of Auri-El in Vulkhel Guard, Auridon, with a special reading by Lead Loremaster Lawrence Schick on Twitch. A Crown Store Heart's Day sale was also held between February 11 and February 17, with 50% off the Wedding Dress, Wedding Suit, and Pledge of Mara.

Two Year Anniversary

To celebrate ESO's two year anniversary, a cake-based event will take place from April 4 to April 10, 2016. During that period a free voucher will be available from the Crown Store, which will begin the quest Ache For Cake. The quest involves helping Chef Donolon bake his new Jubilee Cake recipe. A Jubilee Cake Memento will be given as a reward, and will result in a 100% Experience bonus for you and your group when activated during the event. The Memento is retained after the event, although without the Experience buff.
