Detailed Walkthrough
Quest Offer
Questgiver says:
(Temple's deity) be with you, (Brother/Sister). You may have heard of (prophet's name). If you have not yet, you will. We are investigating (his/her) claims that (he/she) is a prophet. We are not, I think, censorious by nature, but we must ever be alert to the presence of heretical influences. Would you be available to assist in this important investigation?
or
It falls upon us to investigate the claims of (prophet's name) that (he/she) has seen the face and heard the words of (Temple's deity). Perhaps you have time to assist in this inquiry?
Quest Acceptance
Questgiver goes on:
Good. We have already sent one of the Temple, (priest(ess)' name) to the desacrilized (dungeon), where (prophet's name) asserts that (he/she) first witnessed the miracle. If (priest(ess)' name) needs assistance, I will send for you. In the meanwhile, I want you to find some more secular information on (prophet's name), by asking around in (his/her) hometown, (town). A loyal cleric of ours, (cleric's name) will meet you in (tavern). I want to see evidence of the true nature of (prophet's name) in no more than (time limit) days. I would leave immediately. May Great (Temple's deity) bless your enterprise, (Brother/Sister).
Quest Decline
Questgiver answers:
That's a pity, (Brother/Sister). I hope you will find time in your busy schedule for the temple in the near future. Else then.
Quest Object
Travel to the town which was mentioned to you and meet the cleric in a tavern there, learn from him/her the current location of the prophet and about a former lover of the prophet. He/She will also give you a copy of the tractate, written by the prophet, where he/she describes the revelation he/she had.
If you feel up to do some dungeon crawling, travel to the dungeon, which was mentioned to you instead and find the priest(ess) within. Talk to him/her and learn also about the former lover of the prophet.
Travel to the town, the lover can be found and meet him/her there. The lover will belong to a random faction. In most cases either to a subgroup of one of the eight Temples, to a subgroup of the Mages Guild or to one of the Knight Orders. But there is no way to tell which one it will be in the end. If your reputation with this faction is at least five he/she will say:
(prophet's name) would kill me if (he/she) knew I was talking to you. But I know that you couldn't be working for (him/her). Here's a letter (he/she) wrote to me about a month ago. I think it explains everything.
The letter reveals that the prophet is obviously an impostor. Return with this letter to the questgiver. If you show the prophet this letter, he/she will be furious and yells:
(lover's name)! False creature, deceiver! How (he/she) will pay! Warrior, deal with this (player's race)!
After he/she took the letter from you, he/she will escape and a warrior will show up to kill you.
If your reputation with the lover's faction is lower than five the lover will deny that he/she knows the prophet. In that case, and in case the prophet took the letter from you, you must wait until the quest moves on. Two to about twenty-one days after the quest was started you may receive a maximum of two letters.
The first letter says, the cleric has been murdered and you shall come immediately to see his/her successor. He/She will be at the same tavern the cleric was earlier. If you talk to the successor, he/she will tell you how the cleric was murdered and you will also get a religious item which was used to kill the cleric. If you show this religious item to the prophet's lover, he/she she will say:
(religious item)! (exclamation), that's poor (prophet's name)'s property. (exclamation), I knew (he/she) was unstable, but I never thought (he/she)'d really do it. (exclamation), poor (cleric's name). If I had helped (him/her), (he/she)'d still be alive today. This won't make up for what I've done by failing to act, but you will know what to do with this letter. May (random god) forgive me.
She will now give you the letter which reveals that the prophet is an impostor. Return with this letter to the questgiver. If you show the religious item to the prophet he/she will take it from you and thanks you for finding his "lost" item.
The second letter you may receive will tell you, that the priest(ess) has not met with his/her contact and you shall know see where he/she has got to. Travel to the dungeon and find a severed finger at the same location, where the priest(ess) was earlier. Return this finger to the questgiver. If you show this finger to the prophet he/she will take it from you and make some amusing comments.
Quest End
When you return back with either the prohet's lover's letter or the severed finger the quesgiver will say:
Well done, (Brother/Sister). I tremble to think what (prophet's name) might have done to our temple had (he/she) spread (his/her) profane word. (Temple's deity) bless you and keep you, goodly (player's race). Here, a small token of the esteem of your brethren.
