Issmi waiting at Brellach

Issmi is a Golden Saint and one of the few who survived the attack of the Forces of Order at Brellach, which will take place during the quest The Helpless Army when you are the Duke/Duchess of Dementia. You will encounter her there after having been informed by the Golden Saint Messenger she sent, where she will help you take back Brellach.

She wears a leveled Golden Saint armor and is armed with a golden mace. She has the normal set of Golden Saint spells. She will be enabled once the Golden Saint Messenger has informed you of Brellach being under attack.

When you arrive at Brellach during the related quest, you'll see her and two Golden Saint Warriors standing outside waiting for you. She will walk up to you and say: "Thank you for coming. I apologize for summoning you. The blame is mine. We've lost control of Brellach. Thadon let them in... We had no idea he would turn on us. They captured our commander, Staada, and have her imprisoned somewhere inside. Our first priority must be rescuing her." At that point you ask her about Staada, she'll explain: "Thadon had her called aside, separating her from the group. He meant to divide our numbers when Order entered, making us easier targets. They imprisoned Staada somewhere within Brellach. If they killed her, she could return to us through the Wellspring, so they keep her hostage. If we follow the waters of the Wellspring, we will surely find her." When you ask her what kind of opposition there is, she'll tell you: "Thadon let them in. More than I could count. It was all we could do to fall back and regroup out here. We must free Staada as soon as possible. She will know what to do."

After that, you can tell her "Right, let's go", and she'll say: "Forgive me for saying so, Your Grace, but I find taking orders from the Duke/Duchess of Dementia to be... unsettling. You are the only remaining Duke/Duchess, which is a situation quite unprecedented. Normally, you would never be permitted to pass within Brellach. Given the need for swift action, the normal customs shall need to be overlooked for now. We shall be right behind you, Your Grace." You could also say you're not ready, after which she will stress the lack of time: "Please, Your Grace. Hurry; we haven't much time." After that point, she will greet you with: "Is Your Grace prepared to enter Brellach now? We cannot delay for long.", leaving you with the same two options. Enquiring further about Staada will net you: "She is our commander. She leads us. Without her, we are at a loss. I have done what I can to take her place, but I know I am insufficient. Order has kept her hostage so that she cannot return to us and lead us. If we can free her, she may know how best to defeat them."

After having told her you're ready, she will follow you everywhere you go. The two Golden Saint Warriors follow her in turn, expressing trust in her as you greet them: "I follow Issmi, your Grace. If she follows you, then so do I." At that point, she will greet you with: "I am yours to command, Your Grace." You can tell her to wait, which won't suit her well: "If you insist, Your Grace, but there's not much time."

After having freed Staada, and you've entered the Hall of Devotion, she will temporarily die, leaving her petrified. Once you restore the Wellspring, she will rejoice with the other Golden Saints in the Font of Rebirth, where she will remain for the rest of the game.

Notes

  • Issmi carries a golden mace at all levels while most Golden Saints only carry these maces at levels 4-8.

Bugs

  • Issmi may continue to follow you after the quest. Talking to her will result in her saying anything she would normally say after the quest and you cannot tell her to stop following you. A rare part of this glitch is that she may come to Cyrodiil with you through the portal. If this happens, talking to her will result in the text "I HAVE NO GREETING" and no voice will come from her. She will remain in Cyrodiil and cannot come back to the Shivering Isles.
