Sinkhole Cave is a medium-sized cave northwest of the Imperial City containing bandits. It contains two zones: Sinkhole Cave and Sinkhole Great Hall.

Notes

Zone 1: Sinkhole Cave

Sinkhole Cave

Sinkhole Cave proper is a large two-cavern space. Upon entering and following the cave to the east a Swinging Log trap pressure plate (at F and G on the map, respectively) will be in the center of the pathway. Once past the trap, to the right find a small, candle-lit table with a dead rat attending. The raised area beyond holds only clutter and a bedroll. From the table, towards the northwest is a small alcove with some loose gold and an unlocked chest. The second cavern of the cave, while larger, holds little of note other than a large sinkhole in the center of the cavern. Descend into the sinkhole to access one of the two entrances into the Sinkhole Great Hall (C), and a bandit camp. A locked chest is by the fire as well as some loose gold. The entrance to the Great Hall is through the wooden gate. If you prefer the less direct route to the Great Hall, instead skirt around the sinkhole, toward the back of the cave, reaching the southeast end. Follow the small tunnel until it splits. The path to the left will lead to Tripwire trigger at H resulting in Swinging Mace trap at I and a boarded up wall. The path to the right leads around the wooden blockade to the second Great Hall gate (D).

Zone 2: Sinkhole Great Hall

Sinkhole Great Hall

Sinkhole Great hall can by accessed by two doors. The lower level of the zone can be reached from door C. The upper area is accessible through door D, and from there the player can simply fall down into the lower area. The boss level chest can be reached by crossing the deep chasm running across the zone. The fall is always lethal and the planks are rotten plank traps that will break should the player attempt to use them; however, the gap can be easily jumped even by a player with low Acrobatics. The bandit near the boss level chest will always attempt to use the rotten planks, which is a simple way to get rid of him or her.
