Baurus undercover in the Imperial City.
Baurus

Baurus is one of the youngest Blades ever to serve in the Emperor's personal guard. The player meets him in the very beginning of the game, in the tutorial sewers. He'll take the death of the Emperor rather hard, blaiming himself for the death of the Emperor. If the player follows the main Questline, he'll appear again, helping the player to obtain the four Mythic Dawn books. After that, he fights alongsides the player during The Defense of Bruma and Relighting the Dragonfires, provided the player can keep him alive. After the main questline, he'll return to Cloud Ruler Temple for the remainder of the game.

  • He is no longer essential after The Path of dawn, so it is possible for him to die during subsequent quests.

The Gray Fox

The legendary Gray Fox

The Gray Fox is the hidden leader of the Thieves' Guild in Tamriel. The name Gray Fox is attributed from the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal , wich was stolen from the Daedra Princess Nocturnal over 300 years ago. Unknow to the original thief, the Gray Cowl was cursed. Any who wear the Cowl are permanently erased from history. People will not recognize the wearer, even after removing the cowl. The current Gray Fox proves this by stating his real name a least twice to the player, but due to the magics of the cowl, the player forgets it. The current Gray Fox uses the help from an up-coming thief (the player), to steal an Elder Scroll from the Imperial Palace. Using magics from the scroll, the curse was lifted, and the Fox was recognised as the long lost Count of Anvil.

The Gray Prince

Agronak training in the Bloodworks

Real name Agronak gro-Malog, the Gray Prince is the Grand Champion of the Arena. He is a male Half-Orc who can always be found practicing in the Arena bloodworks. He has been the reigning Grand Champion for over 10 years before the player asks combat. He believes he is of noble birth, and asks the player to recover the proof. What you ultimately find, will not be exactely what you had expected.

Hannibal Traven

Arch-Mage Traven

Hannibal Traven is the current Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild in Cyrodiil. He is the author of The Black Arts on Trial. Immidiately after obtaining his rank, he banned Necromancy from practice within the Guild and placed certain restrictions to newer, low-rank members. This caused many prominent guild members to resign, some defecting to Necromancy Cults devoted to Mannimarco. He'l gladly sacrifice his own life to save the Guild from the growing threat from the Necromancers.

Janus Hassildor

Count Hassildor

Janus Hassildor is the current count of Skingrad. He is probably the strangest of all the nobles of Cyrodiil, never holding any public audience hours, and only speaking to people who have an appointement via his steward. As the player, you will likely find out one way or another that the count is actually a Vampire. His wife, Rona Hassildor is dying from a simular disease. He plays a part in several Mages Guild quests, along with playing a part in curing Vampirism.

Jauffre

Grandmaster Jauffre

Jauffre is the Grandmaster of the Blades in Cyrodiil. Many jears ago, when he was captain of the personal guard of the Emperor, Jauffre was called into the Emperor's quarters. A baby boy lay sleeping in a basket. The Emperor told him to take him somewhere safe, but not to tell him of his royal blood. Jauffre took the child, Martin Septim, to the chapel of Akatosh in Kvatch where the priests would take care of him. Now, many years later, being promoted to grandmaster of the Blades, Jauffre lives at Weynon Priory. When the player tells him of the Emperor's assassination, Jauffre orders the player to go to Kvatch and find Martin. After returning rom Kvatch the Amulet of Kings was stolen from the priory by pinning Jauffre in the chapel. He then orders you to escort martin to Cloud Ruler Temple, the fortress of the Blades. He'l fight alongside you during the Defense of Bruma and the relighting of the Dragonfires.

  • Jauffre is no longer essential after the beginning of the Defense of Bruma, so it is possible for him to die during this or subsequent quests.

The King of Worms

The legendary god of Worms

Mannimarco is the leader of the underground cult of necromancers in Tamriel and the archenemy of the Mages Guild. According to Elder Scrolls lore, he is a monstrously powerful necromancer, decipted in Daggerfall as an 'immortal, shadow-palled lich'. This led to some controversy regarding his appearance in Oblivion among Eldar Scrolls fans, due to the fact he certaintly isn't immortal or undefeatable in Oblivion. Anyway, he was originially an Altmer and a Psijic, like Vanus Galerion. He broke away from the Psijic order to further study Necromancy (Galerion broke away aswell, to found the Mages Guild). He is said to be responsible for the death of Vanus Galerion, along with many other Arch-Mages over time. He is the creator of both the Bloodworm Helm and the Necromancer's Amulet, both for the purpose of aiding him in his Necromancy. Another gruesome Artifact he created is the Staff of Worms, wich can temporairly raise the dead.

Lucien Lachance

Lucien Lachance
Lucien Lachance's mutilated body at Applewatch, along with two misguided Black Hand members

Lucien Lachance is a speaker for the illegal, underground organization know as the Dark Brotherhood, the infamous assassins guild. He will appear only after you kil an innocent victim, awaking you if you sleep in a 'secure' location. He will reappear later in the Dark Brotherhood questline, ordering the player to perform 'the purification'. After that, the player gets his 'contracts' through 'Dead drops'. He is betrayed by a fellow member of the Black Hand (whose goal is the destruction of the entire brotherhood) He is killed by the remaining members of the Black Hand, because they believed he was the traitor.

  • He is famous for his line of text that appears when you ask him about 'rumors';
Dear Brother / Sister, I do not spread rumors, I create them.

Mankar Camoran

Mankar Camoran

Mankar Camoran is the leader of the Mythic Dawn cult. He was behind the assassination of the Emperor, in order to allow Mehrunes Dagon to launch his Daedric Invasion. He believes Dagon will cleanse Tamriel of the 'inbelievers', and that he and his followers will rule Tamriel after the Cleansing. He has two children; Ruma and Raven, who are both killed, like their father, at the end of Paradise. Tough he is relevant to the entire main quest, he only appears during two quests; Dagon Shrine and Paradise. During Paradise he will give a speech about Tamriel belonging to Mehrunes Dagon as his birthright. The player must kill him in his palace in order to retrieve the Amulet of Kings.

  • It is strange that he can wear the Amulet, as only an heir of the Septim blood can wear the Amulet, see his page.
  • He may be the son of the Cameron Usurper.
  • He is voiced by Terrence Stamp.

Martin Septim

Martin Septim in Cloud Ruler Temple

Martin Septim is the illegetimate child of Emperor Uriel Septim VII. The Emperor foresaw his own assassination, and that of his other three legitimate sons, so he asked Jauffre to hide the child somewhere safe. Before becoming a priest, he may have been a worshipper of the Daedra Prince Sanguine, due to his comment ' I never thought to see this again. I once possessed it, briefly ... a lifetime ago, it seems now ... ' if you give the Sanguine Rose. After the assassination, the player is ordered to find Martin in the ruined city of Kvatch. Martin fights at the Battle of Bruma, stating ' If I am to be Emperor, it's time I started acting like one. ' he sacrifices his life to save entire Tamriel from Mehrunes Dagon at the end of the Main Quest.

  • He was voiced by Sean Bean, who played Boromir in Lord of the Rings.

High Chancellor Ocato

High Chancellor Ocato

High Chancellor Ocato is an Altmer politician and head of the Elder Council. In the wake of Emperor Uriel Septim VII's assassination, he is left to rule the Empire, making him at least the De-facto ruler. He is more than happy to accept Martin Septim's claim to the Imperial Throne, but is left alone again after the death of Martin in the Temple of the One. While some counts claim he could have done no better to keep the Empire from crumbling, others say he is just ensuring more power for his own.

  • In The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, he can be seen briefly during the opening cinematic alongside Uriel Septim VII.
  • In The Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind, he makes no personal appearance but is known to serve as a high-ranking Imperial Battlemage, as he forces Arch-Mage Trebonius Artorius to step down as Arch-Mage of Vvardenfelll.

Sheogorath

Sheogorath in the Shivering Isles.

Sheogorath is the Daedric Prince of Madness. To the Khajiit, he is known as the 'Skooma Kat'. His realm is called the Shivering Isles, the Madhouse, or the Asylums. He is in fact also Jyggalag, the Daedric Prince of Order. Long ago, the other Daedra Princes feared Jyggalag's growing power, and cursed him by turning him into the one thing he hated the most. Sheogorath is known to be the creator of the Spear of Bitter Mercy, Wabbajack, and the Staff of Everscamp.

  • At the end of the Shivering Isles, you will be Sheogorath. (but not Jyggalag, who is then released of his curse)

Umaril the Unfeathered

Umaril the Unfeathered during the Final battle in the Siritual Plane

Umaril the Unfeathered is an ancient Ayleid sorcerer-king. Many years ago, Umaril was slain by Pelinal Whitestrake in the Mortal Plane, but his Daedric soul escaped to Oblivion. Now, thousands of years later, Umaril has regained his physical form and has returned to Nirn to have vengeance upon the gods that betrayed him (by giving Pelinal the Armor and Weapons of the Crusader, wich where the only weapons capable of slaying him). In the end of the Knights of the Nine mini-expansion, the player must kill Umaril once and foreall, by slaying him in both the mortal and physical plane.

Emperor Uriel Septim VII

Ficheiro:User-Aristeo-Uriel septim vii.jpg
His Imerial Majesty, Emperor Uriel Septim VII

Emperor Uriel Septim VII (3E 346- 3E 433) is the twentieth ruler of the Septim Empire. In his younger days, he was betrayed by the Imperial Battlemage Jagar Tharn, who imprisoned him for next ten years in a realm of Oblivion while Tharn took his place as Emperor. (This period is know as the Imperial Simulacrum.) He was rescued by an unknown hero. He is (in)directly related to all Elder Srolls games. Now, many years later, he must flee from the Imperial City due to assassins that have already killed his three sons. His escape fails however; he is killed, along with two of his three Blade Guards.
