Howdy. =)

I'm not a hardcore player, or even particularly serious. I only own and play Oblivion; In addition to the Battlehorn Castle DLC, I also own the Shivering Isles expansion pack, which I have found to be more entertaining than the main game. I like melee, although I won't refrain from using a powerful staff or a good bow if I'm in a position to use them effectively. I tank most of the time, playing as a Redguard or a Nord, although the character with whom I first completed Oblivion's Main Quest was a Dunmer.

For me: http://www.linklost.com/occ/ -- My Sandbox, currently acting as a listing of my Oblivion soundtrack, with discussion

My characters in Oblivion:

Irrcolai Padhriik: Redguard warrior, level 11 (I think.) Delivered the Amulet to Weynon Priory, got to Kvatch and decided that Oblivion gates were not for him. Irrcolai was recently appointed Listener of the Dark Brotherhood.

Eredhrel the Bright: Dunmer "thief," level 12. Saved the world from Mehrunes Dagon, fought his way to Grand Championship in the Arena, and is Archmage of the Mages' Guild. Eredhrel is now working his way through the ranks of the Fighters' Guild, but tends to take side-trips through dungeons (dungeons not inhabited by undead, that is). Despite his birthsign, Eredhrel has never committed any evil act, except his assault on Eugal Belette, who Eredhrel rooted out as a Mythic Dawn sleeper agent.

Levar Hammerwielder: Redguard warrior, level 6. Levar is a fighter who has taken a fancy to Calliben's Grim Retort, an enchanted mace he discovered in the Trentius Family Mausoleum in Imperial City. Levar has a house in Anvil, wrested from the undead (!) grip of Lorgren Benirus. He subsequently tracked down Velwyn Benirus (the rat that sold him the haunted manor) and relieved him of the burden of existence. Levar hasn't slept since, as the crime of passion has been eating at his conscience. He's also heard that the Dark Brotherhood might approach him and he doesn't want to have anything to do with that.

Gustavus Adolphus: Nord warrior, level 9. By far the best fighter around, Gustavus is charging through Cyrodiil, swinging his sword and mace around, killing people and breaking things. He defeated Umbra after raising enough money from dungeon-delving to buy the staff Apotheosis from Rindir in the Imperial City. He is the Hero of Kvatch and Champion of Cyrodiil, having foiled the Daedric invasion of Tamriel. Gustavus personally hunted down and eliminated each and every one of the Mythic Dawn sleeper agents in the cities of Cyrodiil. After cementing his seat as Lord of Battlehorn Castle, Gustavus went off to investigate a strange door in Niben Bay. He has not been heard from since.

Newt Gingrich: Argonian Thief, Class: Neocon. ;-) Newt has raced through the Thieves Guild questline (the lizard turned out to be pretty well balanced character, much to my surprise) and is all the way up to the Arrow of Extrication quest. He's considering whether or not he has enough strength to carry all the loot he's expecting to get before he proceeds.

Jimmy Jim-Jim: Redguard warrior, Level 10 or so. Jimmy is part of an alternate universe where the Amulet of Kings was never given to him. He simply escaped the prison out the conveniently-located back door. Lacking focus, he joined to the most logical guild for unemployed Imperial citizens: the Fighters' Guild. Jimmy advanced quickly through the ranks, despite a brief pause before completing Maglir's defaulted contract (there were undead in Fallen Rock Cave), and Jimmy is now Grandmaster (or whatever the title is, he's not really concerned with his rank). Jimmy plans to defeat the Gray Prince to become Grand Champion of the Arena.

Kerola the Orange: Khajiit atronach, custom Tiger God class. Kerola is Level 50, with maximum-level attributes and skills, with the exceptions of Personality (40), Speechcraft (5), and Acrobatics (255). He's probably going to do the Thieves' Guild and then nothing else.

Eadric Bardanson: Nord warrior, Level 2, custom Ranger class. I don't know why I created Eadric, but I've made him my character for my experiments in making a living by hunting and alchemy. It's been surprisingly fun. I poison arrows or my longsword and give deer either one good whack with the sword or hit them with one poisoned arrow and then wait for them to die. I also hunt for ingredients that either combine to produce damage health poisons or combine with venison to make feather potions or restore health potions. Wolf pelts also provide a steady living, if you don't mind sleeping in taverns for 10 gold a night.

As my username indicates, I hate undead and refuse to fight them unless absolutely necessary.

Things I Love about Oblivion:

  • It's pretty on a good day. =)
  • The part in the Battle for Castle Kvatch where one opens the gate, and the guards charge in, and the player charges in, and there's nine daedra waiting for you...that battle is good stuff.
  • The meeting with Raven Camoran in the Sunken Sewers, hiding while Raven talks and then rushing out from the shadows, sword or mace in hand, ready to do battle. =D
  • Sean Bean as Martin.
  • Terence Stamp as Mankar Camoran.
  • Anvil. Such a pretty town.
  • Shivering Isles. It's better than the original game in some ways.

Things I Hate about Oblivion:

  • Oblivion Gates. Awful, repetitive, boring, etc. On the random gates I just type "closecurrentobliviongate" in the console and give myself a level-dependent sigil stone of my choosing.
  • Undead. =( Zombie undead and ethereal undead, particularly. Skeletons aren't so bad, mainly because they're just people...without any tissues to speak of. =D
  • Rain.

More later...
