Detailed Walkthrough

Quest Offer

Once you turned into a vampire you may get a letter by a pale young boy which says:

(building)
(town)
Dear (player's name),
Those doddering, unenlightened barbarians who call themselves the Mages Guild are involved in yet another rather pointless endeavor. This time, they may, though accidentally, be on a path toward breaking the shade and exposing (vampire bloodline). It seems inconceivable that the Mages Guild actually accomplish anything, but we must make provision for such an eventuality. Come see me as soon as possible at the address above.
Yours in Death,
(vampire NPC)

Quest Object

There are two ways this quest can take, depending on your reputation with the Mages Guild.

Vampire NPC

If your reputation with the Mages Guild is lower than 15, head to the town mentioned in the vampire NPC's letter and meet him/her there. He/She will tell you that the Mages Guild has done some researches on vampirism and you shall get the current results for your vampire bloodline. The sorcerer, who is in charge of the researches has these results and you shall get them from him/her. You will be told the laboratory where he/she is currently working, it will be a smaller random dungeon. Travel to this dungeon and find the sorcerer within. Kill him/her and get the notes from the corpse. Bring them back to the vampire NPC, but this time you won't get any reward or reputation.

Mages Guild

If your reputation with the Mages Guild is at least 15 you will get a letter via a courier, dressed in deep blue robes, shortly after you have gotten the first letter from the pale young boy. This letter says:

My Dear Old (player's name),
Whenever you might find yourself in the vicinity of (mage's town), your ubiety at (building) would be most efficacious to our present needs. In return for your support in an endeavor, I can offer you the gratification of personal economonic prosperity and the more sublime pleasure of aiding your Mages Guild compeers.
I hope to see you very soon.
Yours and all that,
(mage's name)

You can skip the meeting with the vampire NPC if you want and meet the mage, who wrote this letter, instead. He/She will be at the town he/she mentioned in the letter. If you meet with the mage he/she wants you to collect the researches from the sorcerer, because the sorcerer fears he/she has attracted the attention of the local vampire bloodline. The mage will also reveal the location of the dungeon, the sorcerer is staying, to you. You will be promised a random amount of gold if you bring the researchs back to the mage. Travel to the dungeon the sorcerer is staying and find him/her within. If you hit him/her for the first time, he/she will offer to give you the research notes, since you are obviously the contact from the Mages Guild he/she has been waiting for. You can either get the notes from the sorcerer or kill him/her and get the notes from his/her corpse, it is your choice. After you got the notes you can return them either to the mage or to the vampire NPC, even if you haven't met him/her until now. If you deliver the notes to the mage, this will earn you reputation with the Mages Guild and the random amount of gold, but on the other hand this will cost you reputation with the vampire bloodline. If you bring the researches to the vampire NPC you won't get any reputation or reward, as it has already been mentioned above.

Quest End

If you bring the research notes back to the vampire NPC he/she will say:

Lovely. Did you read this? Of course you did. What rot. There was another mage who had similar views of the vampiric tribes, I cannot recall his name. You've done well, young one. Very well indeed.

If you bring the research notes back to the mage he/she will say:

Is this what (sorcerer's name) wanted to protect? The meandering drivel of a madman. Still, not your fault I suppose. Here's (random gold) gold pieces for your propitious conveyance.
